Finding Your Musical Message: Pete Orta

December 3, 2008

Hypebot posted a cool interview with Pete Orta. Pete won a Grammy in 2000 after being nominated for a number of years with his band. These days it looks like Pete sticks more to the marketing side of things.

Now these Music Industry types are usually ass clowns. They used to have genuine musical knowledge but have been clouded with their lust for money, sales, and identifying your target market.

Pete Orta appears to be different. In the interview he talks about the importance of knowing yourself and your reason for making music.

Look throughout history and you will find that the mission has always dwarfed the man. The mission should be threaded through everything you do

That’s profound stuff and I wonder why more record labels have not championed this cause….

Oh wait, I know why.

Because it’s easier to put together a Theory of a Nickel Creed then it is to nurture and develop a true artist.

Anyway for you REAL artists check out the interview and then maybe ask yourself some important questions.

@ Voyno – Thanks for the props Voyno, but I have to say I have NEVER been interviewed in all my years like the way Kyle Bylin did. He pulled out the best in me.

That is some great stuff there Mr. Pete Orta. I must say, I have not read anything like that before. You have got a real talent that needs to be shared. Your branding site has a killer vibe. Can’t wait to see more of your work.
